Curriculum Vitae

Although the neural basis of vision has now been studied for several decades, much of how cortex gives rise to visual perception is still unknown. Even less is known about the subcortical nuclei that serve to drive and modulate these cortical areas. My goal is to better understand the function of the visual system in the context of this complex circuitry by combining classic histology and microscopy techniques with electrophysiology in the primate model.

I'm currently a neuroscience Ph.D. student in the Kaas Lab studying at Vanderbilt University. When I'm not researching brains I like to spend my time reading, playing with recreational mathematics, watercolor painting, marathon training, and working on various side projects.
